"There's a whole need in this community for people to be able to buy clothes and goods at a very reasonable price," said Jason Arcemont, board member with Resale with a Purpose. "So when you see a young mom come in there with three or four kids and she's able to buy shirts and shorts for her kids for 99 cents, that's really magical."
Brad Bartlett, board president at Resale with a Purpose, said the inspiration for the nonprofit organization was born after he visited a large-scale resale shop in Arlington about four years ago. Bartlett returned from Arlington with a mission to find a similar-sized facility for a resale shop but had a difficult time finding a suitable location. Instead, Bartlett decided to start small with a plan for growth in mind. Resale with a Purpose opened its doors in August 2010 at a 600-square-foot facility along Main Street in Tomball.
After establishing a foothold in the community, Resale with a Purpose upgraded to a 2,000-square-foot facility in 2011 and doubled in size with its relocation in January 2014 to the Four Corners Shopping Center. The store accepts new and gently used items ranging from clothes to furniture, which are displayed and sold in the showroom.
