Anniversary: Magnolia-based Mercy House Global celebrates 10 years
Local nonprofit organization Mercy House Global will celebrate its 10th anniversary Oct. 10. With locations at 5814 FM 1488, Magnolia, and 418 W. Main St., Tomball, the nonprofit organization supports impoverished women around the world and operates three maternity homes in Kenya for young girls who have become pregnant. In addition to retail stores offering fair-trade products, the organization offers Fair Trade Friday, a monthly subscription box containing fair trade products, all proceeds from which support artisans and their families from around the world. In honor of the 10th anniversary, Mercy House Global will be hosting a virtual celebration event, according to a Sept. 2 post on Facebook. Relocation: Center for Teaching and Learning moves to Hufsmith Road in Tomball
Nonprofit private school Center for Teaching and Learning has moved from Kuykendahl Road to a new location at 10431 Hufsmith Road, Tomball, and is expected to welcome students Sept. 8. The school currently enrolls grades pre-K-10 and plans to add 11th grade next year and 12th grade the year after.
