Why did you choose to run in this election?

It is a busy time in Magnolia and now more than ever we need someone with my experience.

What is your top priority if elected?

Continued expansion and improvement of our infrastructure.

What do you think are the biggest issues facing Magnolia residents?

High water bills, largely caused by the SJRA. I have helped lead the fight against their unjust charges and will continue to do so. Traffic is also an issue and we will continue to cooperate with state and county officials to help when we can.

How will you approach Magnolia’s development and growth amid infrastructure needs?

We are currently very proactive with the expansion of our water and wastewater facilities. With proper planning we should stay ahead of the growth all the while avoiding increases in the residential water rates.

How much of Magnolia’s budget do you think should be allocated to parks and amenities?

I don't think it is a set number or percentage. In the past we have relied on our sales tax collecting corporations created by the city. We hope to continue this relationship as the city focuses on infrastructure. As the sales tax base grows more amenities will follow.

Why did you choose to run in this election?

Most citizens, like me, were not born here but we chose Magnolia as our home. I’ve spent 24 years watching growth come to Magnolia. I’ve witnessed how things could have been done differently. I feel it is time for a change. Time to lead from the front.

What is your top priority if elected?

To listen and be engaged with the citizens. Our community is growing because of the culture and schools. I will work to keep the small town feel while embracing the inevitable growth. I will build bridges with our county and state leadership so we can work together on improving the …

What do you think are the biggest issues facing Magnolia residents?

Road construction is a huge issue. There are intersections along 1488 which are near deadly at times. I will continue collaborating with staff, and TxDOT to have lights installed as soon as TxDOT will allow. Water quality or perception of our city’s water quality is another concern I would like …

How will you approach Magnolia’s development and growth amid infrastructure needs?

I think the immediate growth caught us off guard. We currently have a plan in place to honor our current development agreements and manage added growth. I think it’s also time to invest in our older communities by widening roads and adding streetlights for safety.

How much of Magnolia’s budget do you think should be allocated to parks and amenities?

Currently it is 1.2%. I think it should be increased through grants and partnerships. Magnolia EDC is conducting a study to determine what the community would like. We can build a budget around their needs. I personally would like to see more mobility as well as recreation areas.
