Dec. 31: Ring in the New Year

Tomball VFW Post 2427 and The Arabia Shriners will host a New Year’s Eve Casino Night at the Tomball post. Admission includes dinner, $500 worth of chips to play casino games and live music. Jan. 1: Run in a New Year’s race

The Vintage Park New Year’s Day Classic includes 5K and 10K races for adults and a 1K for children as well as a virtual race option. All registrants will receive a race bib and T-shirt as well as a finisher medal. There will be age group awards and door prizes as well as food, mimosas and other drinks. 8:15 a.m. (adult races begin), 9:30 a.m. (kids race begins). Jan. 13-14: Go fishing

The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department began its seasonal stocking of rainbow trout across the state in November, according to TPWD information. The TPWD will stock Burroughs Park, located at 9738 Hufsmith Road, Tomball, with 1,800 trout Jan. 13 and Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve, located at 20215 Chasewood Drive, Houston, with 1,190 trout Jan. 14. Jan. 22: Celebrate health and wellness

The Way Family Dojo will host its third annual health and wellness expo in Magnolia. The event includes games, a bounce house, face painting, vendors, door prizes and a parent-child self-defense workshop starting at noon. The event is open to the public. 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Free.
