Chris Jones will sleep easy tonight after winning the Montgomery Precinct 5 constable election.
Jones, the incumbent, received 8,194 votes with 74.8% of the vote with all precincts reporting. Brian Clack, the only challenger in the race, received 2,761 votes making up 25.2% of the vote.
Jones was unavailable for comment on election night March 3, but he previously said his plans would be to grow the department to meet the population growth and to continue to work with Magnolia schools to ensure students are protected.

In the March 3 Republican primary, early voting results have Chris Jones ahead in the Montgomery County Precinct 5 constable race with 75.69% of the vote, with a total of 6,389 votes.
Brian Clack is behind with 24.31% of the vote. The winner of the race will not have a Democratic opponent in the general election in November.
Jones is the incumbent in the race, however he was never elected. He assumed the role after former constable David Hill retired last September.
Jones was recommended for the position by Hill before he retired, as the two had worked together for over 20 years.
Clack has previously run and lost against constable David Hill in multiple elections.
