Magnolia ISD to recognize class of 2020 with Light the Night on April 17

To honor students, especially graduating seniors, Magnolia ISD will hold a Light the Night event April 17, MISD Communications Director Denise Meyers said.

People are invited to drive by from 7-8 p.m. and see the stadium lights on at Magnolia and Magnolia West high schools, Meyers said.

"This is one small opportunity to recognize how much we appreciate the Class of 2020, all of our spring sport athletes, and our community as a whole,” Magnolia High School principal Greg Quinn said in an email.

Magnolia West principal Ben King said he knows students are missing out on important experiences during the temporary school closure. MISD campuses are closed until at least May 4, Community Impact Newspaper previously reported.

“On Friday, we will Light the Night to say to our community, students, and most notably our seniors, that we miss them, we are wishing them well and we hope to see them soon,” King said in an email.

Meyers said while MISD hopes everyone can come, social distancing guidelines are still in effect.

“We want to Light the Night to say that while we are all living through unusual and difficult times, there is a brighter future ahead,” King said in an email.
