For Magnolia natives and co-owners of Magnolia Coffee House Bistro Vickie Patterson and Janna Hartigan, opening a local bistro is carrying on a family tradition of hospitality and food service. In the '70s and '80s, Hartigan said, the two friends’ families would sell barbecue sandwiches to Texas Renaissance Festival patrons.
While the families no longer sell barbecue sandwiches, Magnolia Coffee House Bistro specializes in Southern-style breakfast and lunch.
“We know it’s small. ... But it’s quaint,” Hartigan said. “To me, that’s somewhat of the appeal. We wanted a cozy atmosphere for people to come and enjoy some solitude, or gather with friends and hang out catching up, or Bible study or to even meet new people.”
Aside from espresso drinks and tea, guests can enjoy freshly baked goods, Hartigan said, including scones, frittatas and sandwiches. The bistro serves breakfast and lunch, features sugar-free and keto-friendly food items, and houses Unique Jewelry Creations & Gifts with jewelry made by Patterson.
