Crawfish Shack expands just in time for crawfish season

Crawfish season has returned to Texas, and this year, mudbug lovers in Magnolia will have a larger space to enjoy a traditional seafood boil.

Cindi and Logan Ingram opened the Crawfish Shack in January 2016 on FM 1774 in Magnolia. It is the second location—the first is located in Crosby and is owned by Logan’s cousins, Dan and Jennifer Meaux. The restaurant is open during crawfish season—typically from late January to mid-June, Cindi said.

The Crawfish Shack’s menu features live crawfish brought in daily from Crowley, Louisiana, and sold for $6.95 per pound. The crawfish are washed and carefully sorted before being boiled with spices, corn and potatoes. Logan said the sorting process sets the eatery apart from the competition during the season.

“That’s a big part of [what makes us unique] right there is our sorting process and where we get them from, too,” Logan said. “West Louisiana seems to be the best place to get them. Our supplier is one of the best in the nation and I think our quality and our seasoning set us apart from everybody else.”

In addition to boiled crawfish, snow crab and shrimp, the menu also includes crawfish etouffee, and creamy red beans and rice—one of the top selling dishes, Cindi said.

“It’s so good—I eat that every day,” Cindi said.

Logan said in the future he hopes to add more seating, landscaping and parking as well as live music and a TV. The couple would also like to add catering to their services to reach more customers in the future.

“Our goal is to every season do a new update,” Cindi said. “‘Grow as we go’ is our idea.”
