Meetings

The council meets at 6 p.m. every first and third Monday at Tomball City Hall, 401 Market St., Tomball. 281-351-5484.

Terms and pay

The mayor and council members serve three-year terms. The mayor receives a monthly stipend of $750. The mayor and council are paid $100 per meeting.

Food truck restrictions - The city of Tomball adopted an ordinance in August requiring food trucks to relocate at least 100 yards away after four hours in a single space and not return to the same location until the following business day.
Facade requirements extension - In September, the city extended building facade requirements along Main Street to include facilities along Hwy. 249 and Business 249. The ordinance stipulates new nonresidential buildings along the three corridors must feature masonry—defined as brick, stone, glass or stucco—on all visible sides.
New annexations - City Council approved a strategic partnership agreement with Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 273 in May, allowing the city to annex 153 acres near Hwy. 249 and the Grand Parkway. The agreement will allow the city to collect 2 percent of sales tax revenue from the upcoming Grand Parkway Town Center.
New tenants - In May, the city approved construction bids to build Packers Plus Energy Services, the first tenant at the Tomball Business and Technology Park. The oilfield services company began construction in October on its 50,000-square-foot research and development facility, which is slated to open in mid-2016.

Water infrastructure improvements - In the fiscal year 2015-16 budget, the city allocated more than $1.7 million to water and wastewater infrastructure improvements. The city could begin upgrades to the north and south treatment plants and repairs to existing equipment this year.
Medical Complex Drive extension - The city plans to begin the design process later this year on the next portion of Medical Complex Drive—Segment 4—which will extend the road east of Cherry Street to Hufsmith-Kohrville Road. Funding could be allocated for the project in the 2016-17 budget. The completion of drainage channel M118 south of Holderrieth Road is another important project the city will begin this year.
Strategic plan update - The city is expected to update its strategic plan, which was adopted in 2009. The update will reflect initiatives accomplished in the past seven years and include plans for additional sidewalks and city improvements.
New radio station - City officials will work to debut a new FM station, 95.3 KTTF Tomball Texan for Fun. The station will be housed at Tomball Fire Station No. 1 at 1200 Rudel St. The city will work with local schools, community leaders and the city’s marketing team to create content.
