Harpers Bagels serves freshly baked bagels in Tomball

Before most of Tomball wakes up, the ovens at Harpers Bagels are already on. Founded by brothers Sean and Aaron Rink in May, the family-operated bagel shop opens with a simple promise—fresh bagels made daily and sold until they’re gone.

Sean arrives at work as early as 1 a.m., crafting about 200 bagels each morning for a business named after his daughter, Harper, a legacy he hopes will grow one bagel at a time.

The inspiration

Formerly in the gas and oil industry for over 20 years, Sean Rink traces Harpers Bagels' roots to a conversation he had with his daughter Harper when she was 7, asking what she wanted to do when she grew up. When she said she wanted to have her own donut shop, Sean took the inspiration to heart, opening a bagel shop instead with the intention of one day giving it to her.

After perfecting his bagel recipe after months of trial and error with the intention of opening a family-owned establishment, Sean Rink partnered with his brother Aaron Rink to open Harpers Bagels.

Located in a popular shopping center in Tomball near several established businesses such as Marco's Pizza and Daily Donuts, Harpers Bagels quickly earned a regular customer base. Looking ahead, Sean Rink said he hopes to expand his current location with the empty building next door.

From the oven

At Harpers Bagels, customers can find eight to 10 different bagel flavors baked freshly from scratch with no additives, paired with seven or eight flavors of cream cheese ranging from plain to honey walnut.

Bagel flavors offered include:

• Plain
• Blueberry
• Cinnamon raisin
• Everything
• Onion
• Sesame
• Poppy
• Pumpernickel
• Salt

The bagel shop also offers bagel breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches such as BLT’s as well as coffee. In addition, the Rinks said they offer gluten-free muffins upon request.
