The Shenandoah City Council approved zoning changes, comprehensive plan amendments and special use permits for a planned assisted living facility on Vision Park Blvd. at its meeting Jan. 23.
The 6.5-acre plot of land for the Silver Creek Senior Living facility is located north of Vision Park Blvd. and required multiple amendments and zoning changes from the board, which unanimously approved each one following a public hearing.
"It seems like there is a need for something like this in the area," Mayor Wes Stephens said.
Nick Craig, chief investment officer for Silver Creek Senior Living, said the facility will include 88 units: 48 for assisted living and 40 for memory care for seniors with dementia or Alzheimer's Disease. Craig said Silver Creek has developed, owned or operated about 200 assisted living facilities.
