Oak Ridge North sets out plan to renovate city streets
The City of Oak Ridge North is in the midst of a road rehabilitation project that, when complete, will result in new surfaces for all of the city's aging roads.
"Our infrastructure is about 40 years old and everything has begun to show signs of stress at the same time—water, sewer, roads," City Manager Vicky Rudy said.
The city has utilized temporary solutions on the faulty roads such as crack sealants, but last year's drought and now heavy rains have caused base failures on many of the city's roads to worsen, Rudy said.
The city council budgeted $175,000 for road improvements for the current fiscal year. But the larger goal, Rudy said, is to put new surfaces on all of the city's 10 miles of roads.
