Oak Ridge North moves forward with water, sewer rehabilitation project

The City of Oak Ridge North is continuing with its sanitary sewer and water rehabilitation project, installing clean-outs on burst pipe lines and a new waterline on Robinson Road.

The City Council has reached Phase III of its water and sewer rehabilitation plan and is now seeking approval on projects from the Texas Water Development Board to move into Phase IV.

City Manager Vicky Rudy said it was important for the city to keep continuous focus on the water and sewer rehabilitation project as it effects the entire city and will continue to do so for years to come.

"This is a priority right now," Rudy said, "It's not something that can wait or be put off. We need to focus on and fix these issues now."

Rudy said issues associated with the aging pipelines and tanks located throughout the city need to be addressed before problems worsen.

The city paid $182,913 to Horseshoe Construction Inc. to work on waterline installation for the project.

In other news, the City Council elected four members to the city's Economic Development Corporation Board to assist with the city's comprehensive planning strategy. Council members Tom Coale and Jim Simon were elected, as were Bob Martin and John David Hodge. Their terms will be two years and expire Oct. 31, 2014.
