With more than 25 years of experience and a passion for the cigar industry, Mike McCoy and his wife Nancy opened Mike's Cigar Room more than four and a half years ago. Manager Brad Frazier said the shop's close relationship with its customers and relaxed atmosphere separate the cigar room from other locales customers can enjoy a cigar.
"We don't separate ourselves from our customers," Frazier said. "All of our regulars are like our friends. We're all involved in each other's lives. We sit and smoke and talk with the customers. We don't stay behind the counter."
Frazier said the business sees as many as 250 customers a week, with a diverse customer base ranging from day laborers to multi-millionaires. He said the cigar shop enjoys a sustainable business from customers who purchase a box or two at a time as well as regulars who enjoy a cigar on their lunch break. The shop offers a relaxed atmosphere with 12 chairs, television and a "bring your own beer" policy.
Mike's Cigar Room features more than 1,100 cigars of different sizes, styles and shapes, Frazier said. The shop also offers pipes and pipe tobacco, humidors, cutters, lighters, other accessories and even humidor lockers for storage within the shop.
