The Village of Alden Bridge, one of the newest villages in The Woodlands, is a redesigned and reinterpreted version of a town by the same name in northwestern Louisiana from the 19th century.
Roger L. Galatas, former president of The Woodlands Development Company, grew up near the town of Alden Bridge, La. He said he has fond memories of his childhood there.
"Alden Bridge was a vital area, both socially and commercially," Galatas said. "It flourished during an era when the timber industry was of great significance in North Louisiana and East Texas."
Alden Bridge, in north central Bossier Parish, was one of Louisiana's most important logging and oil field centers.
