Through the Home for the Holidays program, pet adoption fees were waived for individuals or families to adopt a cat or dog. The effort is one of several programs Jackson said he hopes will encourage the community to become more involved with the shelter. For more details, visit www.mcaspets.org. -If your daily commute or routine takes you by the intersection of Grogans Mill Road and Woodlands Parkway, you may want to plan for extra time beginning Wednesday. The San Jacinto River Authority will begin replacing a water line in the area, which will require the closure of one southbound lane of Grogans Mill Road at the intersection. The project is expected to be complete by late April. -New incoming and re-elected Montgomery County officials took their oaths of office Sunday morning at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center in Conroe. Officials include newly elected sheriff Rand Henderson along with Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack and Precinct 3 Constable Ryan Gable. -A project to improve the turning basin near Town Green Park on The Woodlands Waterway is now underway and expected to be complete by the second quarter of this year. The project will include adding a boardwalk, seating, landscaping and lighting. The turning basin walkway will be closed through Feb. 2 for construction.
