The Woodlands Fire Department opened its Fire Station No. 5 on Jan. 31 in partnership with The Woodlands Township and Montgomery County Hospital District.
The overview
The 21,565-square-foot station includes facilities to meet the demands of the west side of The Woodlands including Sterling Ridge and Indian Springs. It includes facilities and components such as:
- 14 individual dorm rooms
- 4.5 apparatus bays
- Engine company
- Truck company
- Battalion chief
- Collapse rescue truck
- Two emergency medical service units
The facility also includes an EMS component, with a full-time medic unit as well as a medic unit for peak demand times.
The previous building for Station No. 5 had severe structural issues, and additional space was needed for the growing department, Community Impact previously reported.
