A curbside recycling program focusing on textiles and household goods will stop picking up items in The Woodlands on Nov. 20, according to a news release from The Woodlands Township.
Simple Recycling has provided the service in more than 30 cities and towns in Texas, and it has served The Woodlands through a contract since 2017, according to the township. This service is separate from the township's regular recycling program.
According to the township, the provider stopped its service due to financial effects from COVID-19.
The "Orange Bag Program," named for the signature orange bags residents can use for their unwanted goods, diverted more than 60 tons of material that would have been destined for a landfill into a recycling program, according to the township.
