A number of school bond projects are underway in Conroe ISD and Tomball ISD in The Woodlands area. Here are a few with updates as of late summer.
Conroe ISD
Grand Oaks Junior High School
Project: The new junior high school campus will be an addition to the Grand Oaks ninth-grade campus set to open in January 2027. Funded by the 2023 bond, the new campus is expected to help relieve overcrowding in the district.
Update: Building construction is progressing on schedule and furniture is being ordered for deliveries near the end of the calendar year.
Grand Oaks Ninth-Grade Campus
Project: The new ninth-grade campus will be an addition to the Grand Oaks Junior High campus set to open in August 2027. Funded by the 2023 bond, the new campus is expected to help relieve overcrowding in the district.
Update: Building construction is progressing on schedule. Furniture ordering is in progress for deliveries near the end of the calendar year with the 9th grade furnishings.
Kacy Arnold Elementary School
Project: Kacy Arnold Elementary is a new K-6 campus; its namesake comes from the late Kacy Stanley Arnold, who served as assistant director of special education for the district.
Update: The campus is currently loaded with furniture and learning materials, with the staff coming into their new building to set up for the start of school in August.
Knox Junior High School renovations
Project: The $23.8 million renovation project was funded by the 2023 bond. The purpose of the renovation is to provide more infrastructure for the facilities along with new flooring and paint for the interior.
Update: The project is wrapping up to be ready for the start of school in August.
Oak Ridge High School renovations
Project: The project is a continuation of the Master Plan for the campus, which started in 2019 and continued with the 2023 bond. Renovations are on their way to being completed by the end of the year.
Update: Construction is underway with the building envelope progressing rapidly. The project is scheduled for completion in December this year.
McCullough Junior High School renovations
Project: Renovations and various additions for the McCullough Junior High School will be built for the gym and classrooms.
Update: The project is wrapping up to be ready for school to start in August.
South Agriculture Facility
Update: The project is an expansion of the district's career and technical education program. The purpose is to build a facility to house and raise various livestock.
Project: Renovations are being conducted at the existing Agricultural Facility.
Tomball ISD
Creekside Park Junior High School addition
Project: The $39 million, two-story addition will accommodate fifth graders for the 2026-27 school year
Update: The project is progressing on schedule.
Athletic facility upgrades
Project: Upgrades to the old Tomball High School track and turf.
Update: THS turf and track replacement will be completed this summer. The remaining turf and track replacement projects for the junior high campuses and Tomball Memorial High School are currently in the design/planning stage.
