Several area nonprofits are collaborating with county officials on the new senior center project in Montgomery County Precinct 3 that will provide more space for dining and socializing opportunities for seniors.
The new senior center facility will be built off Pruitt Road near I-45, as Community Impact previously reported. The facility is 8,000 square feet and will serve as a space for seniors to have more access to activities and meals, which are currently offered at the Kevin Brady Community Center and Library.

Partners collaborating on the project are Montgomery County Precinct 3, Interfaith of the Woodlands and Meals on Wheels Montgomery County. Meals on Wheels will provide lunches for seniors at the center, and Interfaith of The Woodlands will provide activities for seniors, officials said.
Precinct 3 Commissioner Ritch Wheeler said though everyone enjoys using the Kevin Brady Community Center, which opened last September, it’s important that seniors have their own space to call their own.
“One of the things that we figured out very quickly was, it's just too much going off of this building for you to settle in and enjoy the things that y'all want to enjoy. And so what we decided very quickly as a staff was we wanted you to have your own space,” Wheeler said at a July 23 senior luncheon at Kevin Brady Community Center and Library.
According to Interfaith of The Woodlands and Meals on Wheels
Missy Herndon, president and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands, said the nonprofit is excited about the project.
“It is a [senior] center that you all get to be a part of. [There are] windows, all the intentionality that make sure the room is big enough to be able to have cards or dominos while having a meal, and ... the opportunity for expanded programming,” Herndon told seniors July 23.
Meals on Wheels Montgomery County, which is also collaborating on the project, provides free transportation to seniors throughout the county, not only to senior centers, but to medical appointments, pharmacies and grocery stores. The organization serves two other senior centers within Montgomery County.
“We are incredibly proud to continue that long-standing relationship in a new building that reflects a true dedication to creating a space specifically designed around seniors—their comfort, accessibility, connection and sense of belonging. They deserve a place of their own where they can gather, feel welcome and fully participate in everything the center offers,” said Carrie Watkins, president and CEO of Meals on Wheels Montgomery County.
What to expect
Wheeler announced the center should be complete by early 2027. The center will be available to seniors for different activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
