Montgomery County's free COVID-19 testing voucher program is set to end its six-month run Nov. 11, the county public health and hospital districts announced Nov. 10.
The two entities first approved the purchase of around 12,000 COVID-19 tests with grants from the federal coronavirus relief package in late April. Both symptomatic and asymptomatic county residents were able to obtain one free testing voucher each through the program beginning in mid-May for testing at America’s ER, the Lone Star Family Health Center and Woodlands Functional Family Medicine.
As of Nov. 10, around 10,000 Montgomery County residents participated in the voucher program this year, the hospital and health districts said.
Free testing vouchers will remain available through Nov. 11 either online or by calling the county COVID-19 call center at 936-523-3916 and are valid through Nov. 25. The call center will remain open for questions related to COVID-19 from 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. on weekdays following the end of the voucher program.
