Nearly 20K more vaccines set for distribution in Montgomery County week of March 22

Thousands of COVID-19 vaccine doses will continue to flow into Montgomery County through the week of March 22, according to weekly allocation information from the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Both county hub site operators, CHI St. Luke's Health-The Woodlands Hospital and Lone Star Family Health Center, once again received allocations of 8,190 and 2,500 doses, respectively, for the fourth straight week. Five additional health care providers received vaccine allocations this week, the bulk of which were reserved for two facilities along the county's central I-45 corridor. Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital was allocated 5,850 doses for the fourth consecutive week, and Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital is set to receive 2,340 doses. Additionally, the St. Hope Foundation, Woodlands Specialty Hospital and Kingwood Medical Center were allocated between 100 and 200 doses each.

Through the first 15 weeks of statewide COVID-19 vaccine distribution, more than 220,000 doses have been allocated to providers throughout Montgomery County. Of those, 148,420 have been administered and 54,775 people in the county are now fully vaccinated, according to DSHS. Through the first 14 weeks of vaccination efforts, the county has averaged just over 10,600 vaccinations per week and peaked at nearly 23,000 vaccinations during the week of Feb. 1.

An updated report on wasted vaccine shows a total of 185 doses, or just over 0.08% of the county's allocation, have been lost as of March 19. The majority—135 doses—were reported wasted at Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands due to natural disaster-related power outages. The remaining 50 doses were lost at eight other county providers due to mechanical failures, spoiling and unidentified reasons.
