Two new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported in Montgomery County on Aug. 4. Local active cases of the disease have fallen and recoveries have risen since Aug. 3.
The fatalities were a New Caney woman in her 50s and a Spring woman in her 70s. Seventy-one county resident deaths have now been reported in relation to COVID-19.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in the county decreased to 2,234 on Aug. 4, a decline of 82 from the Aug. 3 total of 2,316. Fifty-six active resident cases were hospitalized as of Aug. 4, a decrease of eight since yesterday. Overall, 106 new cases were reported Aug. 4 as the county's cumulative case count reached 6,397.
COVID-19 recoveries increased by 186, or nearly 5%, from Aug. 3-4. A total of 3,920 county resident recoveries have now been reported, representing more than 61% of the county's cumulative cases.
