Sugar Land is remembering longtime city secretary Glenda Gundermann, who served the city for 35 years.
Gundermann, who died recently, was hired by the city of Sugar Land in October 1983 and retired in May 2019.
Gundermann’s contributions led to Sugar Land being one of the first cities to livestream council meetings and feature council meeting videos on the city’s website. Technological innovations like this made government more accessible to the citizens of Sugar Land, according to city officials.
"Words can't describe the loss we all feel," City Manager Michael W. Goodrum said in a press release. "Glenda was among our longest-serving employees. She was part of our family and touched the lives of countless employees and residents for decades. She will be deeply missed."
