A group of assorted custard, ice cream and ice business are now available—with more on the way—in Sugar Land. With average temperatures in the Houston area peaking between 92 and 93 degrees this summer, frozen dessert shops have become sought after by residents to keep cool.
Rita's Ice Custard shop opened July 7 and offers a diverse menu of Italian ice, cream ice, frozen custard and milkshakes. Owner Samer Kadoura said the location has become a quick destination for residents.
"There are a lot of people who move from the northeast who really were excited, and they are spreading the word really fast," Kadoura said. "For me to start last week we did really well because everyone was waiting to have the frozen custard."
With Rita's Ice Custard within walking distance of the Houston Museum Natural Science Museum at Sugar Land, Kadoura said he experiences a large crowd from families visiting and seeking a way to cool off from the summer heat.
