The Sugar Land and Missouri City area has seen several updates to the local hospital systems, including new programs and buildouts.
Here are four updates from local hospitals in the area.
Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital
The hospital is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary in the Sugar Land community this December, officials said.
20 years of Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital
The 179-bed facility offers more than 87 medical specialties ranging from routine outpatient procedures to complex inpatient surgeries.
Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital
In April 2025, the hospital welcomed Sarah Fleming to Sugar Land as the new chief nursing officer.
In her new position, Fleming will focus on the hospital’s ANCC Magnet Program, which is meant to attract and retain quality nursing staff. She will also strengthen quality and safety initiatives, enhance physician-nursing collaboration and continue driving advancements in patient care.
Fleming formerly served as the associate chief nursing officer at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital since 2019.
St. Luke’s Health-Sugar Land Hospital
St. Luke’s Health-Sugar Land Hospital has earned a designation as a primary stroke center, which affirms the hospital’s readiness to treat stroke-related illnesses.
The designation—awarded by DNV, a global independent certification, assurance and risk management provider—assures that the hospital addresses the full spectrum of stroke care, including diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and education resources.
Interim Hospital President Freemon Walker said the certification “powerfully affirms” the hospital’s commitment to community stroke care.
“It validates our comprehensive approach, combining cutting-edge equipment, highly trained staff, and efficient processes to rapidly assess, treat and manage strokes effectively,” he said.
Kindred Hospital Sugar Land
The hospital enhanced outpatient wound care services including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which is delivered in state-of-the-art pressurized chambers, to treat complex wounds.
Officials also continued the hospital’s focus on respiratory care and recovery for ventilator and high-flow oxygen patients.
The hospital, which is a member of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce, earned its joint commission disease-specific care recertification in sepsis and respiratory failure.
