Fort Bend ISD’s Transportation Department will hold two hiring events for bus drivers and bus driver trainees in June, district officials announced in a May 26 news release.
The hiring fairs come after FBISD officials recommended spending $1.7 million of the 2026-27 budget on increasing starting pay, monitor pay and sign-on bonuses for bus drivers and monitors due to the district having trouble filling those roles, Community Impact previously reported.
What you need to know
The two hiring events will be held at a district transportation center from 8- 11 a.m. on their respective days including:
- June 3 at the FBISD Hodges Bend Transportation Center
- June 10 at the FBISD Lake Olympia Transportation Center
The details
Fort Bend ISD offers bus drivers a starting pay of $20.41 an hour, while bus driver trainees start at $15.71 an hour, per the release. Full-time drivers are eligible for benefits and retirement packages.
Additionally, hirees will receive paid training while acquiring their commercial driver’s license, per the release.
