Fort Bend ISD receives B rating from TEA

Fort Bend ISD received a B rating, an 89 out of 100, in the Texas Education Agency’s accountability ratings for the 2021-22 school year, the district announced on Aug. 15.

That score matches what FBISD earned during the 2018-19 school year, when the TEA last dispensed ratings before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, according to the announcement.

In the 2021-22 ratings, FBISD received an A rating, 90 out of 100, for its graduation rate as well as for academic growth. Meanwhile, FBISD received an 89 for its relative performance regarding the percentage of students considered economically disadvantaged and an 88 for closing achievement gaps.

In total, 26 schools in FBISD received an A; 39 received a B; and nine received a C.

“While these ratings do not capture all the improvements our students have made since the start of the pandemic, they do show that significant growth has taken place,” FBISD Superintendent Christie Whitbeck said. “In this school year and beyond, we will continue our work to close the gaps in learning and support all our students. I commend those campuses that increased their performance by an entire letter grade or more.”

Several campuses improved by one letter grade or more compared to the 2018-19 scores, including Hunters Glen Elementary, which earned an A rating after receiving a C in the 2018-19 report, and Ridgemont Elementary, which earned a B compared to D in the previous report.
