FBISD releases proposed 2020-2021 school calendars, requests parent, staff feedback

Fort Bend ISD is accepting feedback through Nov. 17 on their proposed 2020-2021 school calendars.

The district has put forward two potential calendars, both of which resemble the calendar for the current school year, the district said in a press release.

Key similarities between the two proposed calendars include the first day of school being Aug. 1; a Fort Bend County Fair Day holiday Sep. 25; the full week of Thanksgiving off; two full weeks of Christmas vacation; observing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 18; and the last day of school being May 26.

Calendar A has a Fall holiday Oct. 12, while Calendar B has that vacation day Oct. 30.

The other difference between the calendars is the dates of winter break. Calendar A has Dec. 17 as the last school day before winter break, with Jan. 5 as the first day of the new semester after winter break Calendar option B has Dec. 18 as the last school day before winter break and Jan. 6 as the first day back.

The district is requesting that parents and staff review the calendars and submit feedback via an online survey.

Survey results will be shared with the district’s calendar committee before a final calendar is submitted to the Board of Trustees for approval.
