While the number of Missouri City residents continues to increase, the city of Sugar Land saw a slight decline in population for the second year in a row, according to 2019 population estimates released May 21 by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The data shows Sugar Land’s population fell from 118,77 residents in July 2018 to 118,488 residents in July 2019.
During that same time, the population of Missouri City increased from 74,834 residents to 75,457 residents.
The population of Sugar Land grew 9.75% from 2010-17, reaching a total of 118,967 residents in July 2017, according to the bureau. With 118,488 residents estimated in 2019, the city’s population has returned approximately to its 2015 numbers.
