Fort Bend County Health & Human Services confirmed seven additional Fort Bend County residents have died from the coronavirus, according to data released by the county June 23. This is the highest number of coronavirus deaths reported in a single day in Fort Bend County since the pandemic began.
The record number locally comes at a time when the state of Texas is also experiencing an increasing number of coronavirus deaths. On July 22, a record-high 197 Texans died from the coronavirus, according to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
In addition to the new coronavirus-related deaths, the county also confirmed 113 additional coronavirus cases and 277 more recoveries from the virus. Over the course of the past seven days, there has been an average of 140.14 new coronavirus cases reported each day.
To date, 6,352 people in Fort Bend County have tested positive for the coronavirus. Of these confirmed cases, 2,488 people are known to have recovered from the virus, and 85 are known to have died from it, leaving a presumed 3,779 active cases.
