Renzo Gracie Jiu Jitsu, an international Brazilian jiujitsu academy, opened in Missouri City.

The details

Located in the Commons at Lake Olympia shopping center, the facility offers jiujitsu training for adults and children age 4 and older in group classes and private lessons. The co-ed classes can accommodate all skill levels, as students range from beginners to active competitors, manager Jonathan Martindale said.

Additionally, Renzo Gracie Jiu Jitsu’s instructors come from various backgrounds, with some having fought in the UFC, Martindale said.

“It's a great activity for people of all athletic levels, because the history of jiujitsu is such that it's sort of built for someone who was maybe undersized or not as physically fit as their opponent to still be able to compete,” he said. “It's a good sport for pretty much anyone of any sort of physical level.”
