1. New ice cream shop opens in Pearland Town Center
Lick Ice Cream Creamery opened on June 19 in Pearland Town Center, according to a social media post from the business.
The ice cream shop serves a variety of signature milkshakes, waffle bowl sundaes and smoothies, as well as cheesecakes, brownies and other treats.

2. Fort Bend Care Center to add new education and community center
Fort Bend Community Church is opening a new day care and education building as part of its Fort Bend Care Center nonprofit organization.
The project, which will break ground in August, will include classrooms, community spaces and a wing for free child care for low-income families, Fort Bend Care Center President Mei Wong said.

3. METRO announces new rail station named after Joe Ramirez
The city of Houston officially renamed the former Cesar Chavez Boulevard to Joe E. Ramirez Boulevard on June 26.
To align with the new street name, METRO announced that it changed the Cesar Chavez/67th Street METRORail station to the Joe E. Ramirez METRORail station. Joe “Chaco” Ramirez was a Houston native, Korean veteran and community leader.

4. Brooklyn Pizzeria opens Fulshear area location
Brooklyn Pizzeria has opened a location in the Fulshear area, owner Jimmy Shahni confirmed.
The pizzeria scratch makes its New York-style pizzas using imported ingredients including whole milk mozzarella cheese and full-link spiced Italian sausages, according to its website.

5. New ice cream, candy shop opens in Texas City
Pecan Jacks Ice Cream & Candy Kitchen celebrated the grand opening of its Texas City franchise location in June following an earlier soft opening, staff said.
Pecan Jacks is a specialty ice creamery and candy kitchen offering more than 11 varieties of alcohol-infused ice cream as well as non-alcoholic flavors, according to the business' website. The shop also sells handcrafted candies.
