International chain Pepper Lunch is expected to open a location in the Spring area, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing.

Pepper Lunch is a “do-it-yourself teppanyaki restaurant” where patrons cook their food on 500-degree Fahrenheit hot plates, according to its website. Customers can choose from a variety of pepper rice, teriyaki, steak, seafood, curry and pasta dishes. The restaurant also serves vegetarian options.
Founded in Tokyo, the chain expanded to Texas in 2018. It has locations in Frisco, Missouri City and Greater Austin, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
Construction for the Spring location is slated to begin Dec. 7 and be completed by April 26, 2027, according to the filing. The renovations are estimated to cost $850,000.
