UPDATED: Klein ISD to serve curbside meals through June 30

Klein ISD added two weekend cold breakfasts and two heat-at-home school lunches to Thursday meal kits, beginning April 16.

The free meals are distributed weekly via curbside pickup on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., while meals last. Monday meals include a hot lunch, two cold lunches and three cold breakfasts; Thursday meals include one hot and cold lunch, two heat-at-home lunches and four cold breakfasts.

In addition to take-home meals, KISD offers hot lunches at the following campus sites via curbside pickup:

• Klein Annex, 7302 Kleingreen Lane, Spring
• Hildebrandt Intermediate, 22800 Hildebrandt Road, Spring
• Klein Intermediate, 4710 W. Mount Houston Road, Houston
• Strack Intermediate, 18027-S. Kuykendahl Road, Spring
• Wunderlich Intermediate, 11800 Misty Valley Drive, Houston
• Klein Cain High School, 10201 Spring Cypress Road, Houston

Beginning April 13, Spring ISD will begin handing out multiple-day meals on Mondays and Wednesdays only to better serve families and staff during the ongoing coronavirus closure.

According to an April 13 press release, families will pick up meals for Mon.-Tue. on Mondays from 10 a.m.-noon and meals for Wed.-Fri. on Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-noon.

"We're making this change to minimize the number of family trips to schools and ensure we do our part to 'Stay Home, Stay Safe' as ordered by state and local officials," SISD Chief Operations Officer Mark Miranda said in a statement. "Fewer trips will be more convenient for our families."

To limit contact, families now also have the option of just popping open their trunks for the meals to be placed inside, the release states.

Additionally, because larger kitchens and food storage will be needed to accommodate the change, meals will be offered at the following school sites:

• Bailey Middle, 3377 James C. Leo, Spring
• Booker Elementary, 22352 Imperial Valley Drive, Houston
• Clark Primary, 12625 River Laurel Drive, Houston
• Claughton Middle, 3000 Spears Road, Houston
• McNabb Elementary, 743 E. Cypresswood Drive, Spring
• Reynolds Elementary, 3975 Gladeridge Drive, Houston
• Westfield High, 16713 Ella Blvd., Houston

Spring ISD will offer evening curbside meal pickup today from 2-4 p.m., due to inclement weather. Evening meal pickup is offered at Bailey Middle, Claughton Middle and Smith Elementary schools.

Both morning and evening curbside meals are now also available at Spring ISD's Bailey Middle School, 3377 James C. Leo Drive, beginning March 30.

Additionally, Klein ISD has changed some of its curbside meal locations since service began in mid-March. The following KISD school sites are offering curbside meal service as of March 30:

• Hildebrandt Intermediate, 22800 Hildebrandt Road, Spring
• Klein Annex, 7302 Kleingreen Lane, Spring
• Klein Cain High, 10201 Spring Cypress Road, Houston
• Klein Intermediate, 4710 W. Mt. Houston Road, Houston
• Strack Intermediate, 18027-S Kuykendahl Road, Spring
• Wunderlich Intermediate, 11800 Misty Valley Drive, Spring

Beginning March 23, Spring ISD families are now able to pick up meals curbside in the evening, between 5-7 p.m., at the following school sites:

• Claughton Middle, 3000 Spears Road, Houston
• Smith Elementary, 26000 Cypresswood Drive, Spring

As many Greater Houston-area school districts have extended spring break another week amidst coronavirus concerns, both Spring and Klein ISDs are providing free meals for children 18 years old or younger March 16-20.

In SISD, families will be able to pick up breakfast and lunch March 16-20 between 8-11 a.m. at the following school sites:

• Bammel Elementary, 17309 Red Oak Drive, Houston
• Booker Elementary, 22352 Imperial Valley Drive, Houston
• Clark Primary, 12625 River Laurel Drive, Houston
• Claughton Middle, 3000 Spears Road, Houston
• Hoyland Elementary, 2200 Wittershaw Drive, Houston
• McNabb Elementary, 743 E. Cypresswood Drive, Spring
• Meyer Elementary, 16330 Forest Way Drive, Houston
• Ponderosa Elementary, 17202 Butte Creek Road, Houston
• Reynolds Elementary, 3975 Gladeridge Drive, Houston
• Smith Elementary, 26000 Cypresswood Drive, Spring

In KISD, families will be able to pick up a full week’s worth of breakfasts and lunches on March 16-17 between 8-11 a.m. Curbside meal pickup locations include the following school sites:
