Following the Nov. 5 election, incumbents Deborah Jensen and Justine Durant as well as newcomer Kelly P. Hodges took the oath of office for the Spring ISD board of trustees Dec. 10.
As previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper, Jensen, who ran against challenger Mechelle Epps, was re-elected to serve as Position 1 trustee with 64.96% of the vote. Durant, who ran against challengers John Lopez and Ernest “Saul” Thomas, was re-elected to serve as Position 3 trustee with 48.19% of the vote.
“First, I’d like to comment on how honored I am for the support of the community and to get the opportunity to serve on the board of trustees—I’m grateful for that and I’ll never take that for granted,” Durant said during the meeting.
Hodges, who ran unopposed for Position 2 trustee, was elected with 6,713 votes, replacing trustee Chris Bell, who did not seek re-election.
