Klein ISD to offer on-campus, remote learning options for 2020-21 school year

• Students will receive a daily online instruction schedule and have periods of daily, live instruction with teachers as well as self-paced, independent learning.
• Students will be required to have at-home internet access and access to a device such as a tablet or laptop to participate in the virtual learning option. Elementary-aged students will be able to request a loaned device through KISD.

Attendance and grading

• Attendance will be taken daily for all students and grading guidelines will be similar for students participating in both Klein On-Campus and Klein Online learning options.

Extracurriculars

• Students will have the option to participate in extracurricular on-campus activities. KISD will follow University Interscholastic League guidelines for before- and after-school activities, as updated.

Additional services

• Students in grades 6-12 will have access to Career & Technical Education, dual credit, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate coursework through Klein Online, though admission and on-campus activities may be required throughout the semester.
• Students will receive any additional support or intervention via video or phone conferencing.
• Students currently receiving additional services or accommodations, such as special education, 504 plans or multilingual services, will continue to have access to those services.

Klein On-Campus

Students who choose to enroll in the Klein On-Campus learning option will attend school at their zoned campus in person five days per week, following the district’s traditional schedule.

• Students will receive in-person teaching from KISD educators and will be expected to follow health and safety procedures implemented by KISD, which are subject to change.
• Students in grades pre-K-12 will be required to wear facial coverings when social distancing is not possible and it is deemed developmentally appropriate. This includes in classrooms, hallways, common areas and on buses.
