The Klein ISD Board of Trustees is expected to talk about the district’s state financial rating and updates to bond projects during the Nov. 9 regular meeting.
The overview
Trustees will hear a report on the district earning the highest rating from the state’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, or FIRST, according to agenda documents. Klein ISD earned an “A” rating, marking “superior achievement” in the Texas Education Agency’s rating scale.
After the report, trustees plan to hold a public hearing. The seven-member board oversees the district and its functions.
“The Klein ISD has received the highest rating possible under Texas’ Schools FIRST financial accountability rating system for twenty-four consecutive years,” a letter from district administrators reads. “This rating shows that Klein’s schools are accountable not only for student learning, but also for achieving these results cost-effectively and efficiently.”
FIRST evaluates finances for public schools statewide, ensuring schools are “held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve these practices,” according to documents from the TEA. The system is designed to encourage public schools to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes, per the documents.
Klein ISD’s rating is based on an evaluation of the district’s financial data for FY 25-26.
