Federal court blocks Texas from using redrawn congressional map in 2026 election

The Nov. 18 ruling comes less than three weeks before the Dec. 8 deadline for candidates to apply to run for congressional seats in the March primary elections. Gov. Greg Abbott said Texas would “swiftly appeal” the ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court.
