Dinner and a movie can mean coordinating reservations, watching the clock and rushing from one place to the next. At Flix Brewhouse Katy, the evening comes together in one seat, with freshly prepared food, a craft beer and an ordering experience designed to make dining during the show more comfortable.

Opened in February at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, Flix combines new movie releases with restaurant-style dining and beers made by its own brewers.

Following months of renovations, the eight-screen theater now features new luxury recliners and laser projectors throughout, giving Katy-area residents another reason to plan a night at the movies.

What makes Flix Brewhouse different from a traditional movie theater?

Founded in Round Rock in 2011, Flix Brewhouse is the world’s only first-run cinema brewery. Summer Hasan, Flix Brewhouse’s director of marketing and brand, said LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch had the perfect lively atmosphere to engage with the movie-going community.

“Katy is a community that loves a night out, and LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch is where people already go for one,” Hasan said. “They grab dinner, walk around the center and catch a movie. We’re proud to be the feature presentation.”

Flix brings the kitchen, bar and big screen together, with a dedicated server delivering meals and drinks directly to guests’ seats.

Hasan said hospitality is central to the experience. Guests can order through their server or from their phones, and every seat has a call button for requesting assistance. Pen-and-paper ordering allows moviegoers to communicate quietly once the film begins.

Operating with Flix’s gold standard of hospitality, servers aim to make it easy for moviegoers to enjoy dinner while staying immersed in the story. Whether guests know their usual order or need help exploring the menu, a server greets them when they arrive.

What food and drinks does Flix Brewhouse serve?

The menu gives moviegoers plenty of reasons to come hungry. Flix makes its pizza dough fresh using a sourdough starter that dates to the company’s original Round Rock location, which opened in 2011.

“I’d recommend the pizza every time. If you like truffle, the Truffle Shuffle pizza is a must, and I pair it with a Nebulas hazy IPA. That’s my go-to,” Hasan said.

The menu tells the story of Flix and the six states it operates in, Hasan said. For example, after opening a Flix in Madison, Wisconsin, the team added Wisconsin cheese curds with pepper jelly dip to the menu, with Hatch chile queso added after opening in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Other guest favorites include the Bacon Brewhouse Burger, Balboa Cheesesteak and chicken tenders.

Katy’s house beers are brewed by Flix’s team in Mansfield, Texas. Across the company, its breweries earned 17 medals at the 2026 U.S. Open Beer Championship—including gold for its beers Nebulas, Haze for Days and Over the Moon—adding to recognition from the Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup.

Guests can also choose wine, handcrafted cocktails and sodas—also brewed by the Flix team—and refreshers. Even the popcorn gets a twist, with flavors including elote chili lime, dill pickle, truffle Parmesan and churro.

What upgrades have been made to the Katy theater?

Flix recently completed a renovation that brought new laser projectors to every Katy auditorium and replaced the seating with Easy Glider 2 luxury dining recliners designed specifically for the company.

The chairs feature tables that turn and swivel, allowing guests to position their meals comfortably while reclining.

On the way to their auditorium, visitors can check out “The Movie Multiverse,” a collection by Katy artist Tyler Turnbull. Turnbull is known for his “Downcycled” work, in which he paints over thrifted or otherwise forgotten art. His reimagined movie posters at Flix in Katy blend familiar scenes with pop-culture additions, including close-up references to fan-favorite films.

What special screenings and events does Flix Brewhouse offer?

Beyond current Hollywood releases, Flix screens older favorites and hosts events that turn a movie into a shared celebration.

“We program our throwback content a lot like a film festival, so there's always something to offer beyond the latest blockbuster releases,” Hasan said.

October’s lineup includes spooky-season favorites such as “The Shining” and “The Lost Boys.” Families can attend a screening of “Hotel Transylvania” paired with trick-or-treating. Closer to Halloween, a “Beetlejuice” FanFest scheduled for Oct. 26-27 will feature an in-theater contest, a themed menu and a collectible glass included with admission.

Flix also offers FirstFest screenings for selected new releases, pairing opening-night movies with menus inspired by the films and developed in collaboration with studios. The next FirstFest will celebrate the release of “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.”

For Flix, the renovations are an investment in bringing people back to the movie theater, designed to give Katy audiences a more comfortable, engaging experience while helping inspire the next generation of moviegoers.

“Craft is at the heart of everything we do, from the beer in your glass to the seat you're sitting in,” Hasan said.
