The period to file to run for Sunset Valley mayor or council member in the May 12, 2012, elections ended at 5 p.m. March 5.
Mayor Pro Tem Rose Cardona and Mayor Barbara Wilson submitted applications to run for mayor prior to the deadline, the city confirmed.
Residents Jeff Burdett, Zubair Hamir and Walter Jenkins submitted applications to run for City Council. Councilwoman Nancy Porter and Councilman Bruce Smith did not submit applications prior to the deadline.
Porter, Smith and Wilson's terms end in May. The mayor and City Council are volunteers who serve two-year terms.
