A project to redo intersections in South Austin near two elementary schools just wrapped up, and work is getting started on a major thoroughfare.
Corridor work gets started on South Lamar
After receiving environmental clearance from the Texas Department of Transportation in the fall and crews performing utility relocation work in the winter, a construction project along South Lamar Boulevard is set to begin in May. The project includes building two-way bicycle lanes, improving intersections and adding Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant sidewalks along the street. While the entire project from Riverside Drive to Ben White Boulevard will take place over years, the first phase between Riverside Drive and Barton Springs Road is scheduled to last 12-18 months.
