Upcoming projects
Darden Hill Road (CR 162) widening segment
Project: Hays County will widen a 1.7-mile portion of Darden Hill Road from East Sawyer Ranch Road to RM 1826. Darden Hill Road will be extended into a four-lane divided roadway.
Update: A utility coordination public service announcement and work authorization were presented to the Hays County Commissioners Court on April 14. Hays County launched a new website for transportation project updates in May.
Ongoing projects
Oak Hill Parkway
Project: The 7-mile stretch of highway has been undergoing a $677 million facelift since 2021. The Texas Department of Transportation is currently reconstructing Hwy. 290 in Oak Hill, transforming the existing four-lane, undivided roadway to a six-lane divided highway with new frontage roads and 14 miles of shared-use paths, according to TxDOT documents.
Update: The Hwy. 290 and SH 71 flyovers opened in May. TxDOT is still working to complete the project.
