CapMetro, ACC team up to offer free rides this summer for students, staff

Capital Metro and Austin Community College officials are offering a way for students and staff to ride the transit system for free through Aug. 27.

In a nutshell

The summer Green Pass allows employees and currently enrolled students unlimited rides to class, work and anywhere else on the CapMetro transit system. Continuing Education students and hourly employees are not eligible, however.

The details

To obtain a summer Green Pass, students must:

• Register for ACC credit or Adult Education classes
• Pay tuition or set up a payment plan
• Have a working ACC email address
• Get an ACC student ID card
• Visit the Green Pass request website

Both physical and digital passes are available.

• Physical passes are available at any campus manager's office with an ID.
• Digital passes can be downloaded by installing the CapMetro app and signing in with an ACC email address.

Green Passes can be used for:

• Capital Metro Fixed Route Service
• Express Bus Service
• MetroAccess
• MetroRail services

The Green Pass program is funded by ACC's sustainability fee and revenue from parking permit fees. It is valid for one semester, and a new pass must be ordered each semester.
