South Austin business news: New cafe and hotel come to Music Lane, Chisos Boots opens showroom and more

Here are six recent business updates from the South Austin area.

1. Bon Vivant Gift Boxes relocated to 2307 Thornton Road, Ste. 110, Austin, on Oct. 1. Owner Steely Dipuccio said the business offering curated or custom gift boxes outgrew its old space, which was at 2121 S. Lamar Blvd., Ste. 100, Austin. 2. Bulb, a renewable energy company based in the United Kingdom, expanded to the U.S. market and opened in Texas on Sept. 24. Bulb's new Austin office is located at 210 Barton Springs Road, Austin. When the company launched in 2015, 1% of the UK energy market was renewable, and that figure is now 10%, according to a press release. 3. Chisos Boot Co. opened its showroom at 3507 S. First St., Austin, on Oct. 1. Owner Will Roman launched Chisos in 2019 and named the boot company after the mountains in Big Bend National Park. A portion of all sales supports Texas land conservation. 512-866-7222. www.chisos.com

4. Hotel Magdalena, a new 89-room hotel from the Austin-based Bunkhouse Group, opened in September at 1101 Music Lane, Austin. The 89-room hotel is the largest in the Bunkhouse Group's portfolio, which also includes Hotel San Jose and the Austin Motel. 5. Little Brother opened a new coffee and kolache window as of Sept. 25 at 1512 S. Congress Ave., Austin. The window is open Thursday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside Maufrais, a lifestyle store that sells custom-made hats. Maufrais opened in 2019 in the space that was previously occupied by Uncommon Objects. Little Brother's original bar location is still open at 89 Rainey St., Austin. www.littlebrotherbar.com

6. Two Hands, an Australian cafe with four locations in New York City, opened at 1011 S. Congress Ave., Austin, on Oct. 15. The cafe featuring coffee, brunch, sandwiches and cocktails has existing locations in Nolita, Tribeca, Williamsburg and NoHo, and this is its first restaurant outside of New York. www.twohandsnyc.com
