Retiring president of the Dripping Springs Visitors Bureau honored by city

The city of Dripping Springs declared March 31, 2023, as “Pam Owens Day.”

During a City Council meeting March 21, council honored Pam Owens, president and CEO of the Dripping Springs Visitors Bureau and longtime resident of Dripping Springs. At the end of March, Owens will retire.

“It is with sadness and gladness that I leave,” said Owens. “But I won’t leave Dripping Springs; this has been my town for 40 years. I love Dripping Springs, and I’ve loved it since day one and will continue to.”

In 2012, Owens joined the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce as director of tourism and became the first president and CEO of the Dripping Springs Visitors Bureau when it was established in 2016.

With certifications from the Texas Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus and the Texas Travel Alliance, Owens is credited with asking the Texas Legislature to designate Dripping Springs as the Wedding Capital of Texas in 2015. She developed the logo and website for the visitors bureau and worked on projects such as Dripping Springs Brewers Festival and Light Up Historic Mercer Street.

“I loved working alongside her to get everything done,” Council Member Sherrie Parks said March 21. “Pam just amazed me with how much [she’s] done since I left five years ago. Congratulations.”

Owens received the honor March 21 and was supported by friends and family.
