Raising Cane’s will in open a new location with a drive-thru in Sunset Valley by the end of this year, according to a project filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Construction on the restaurant will begin in April, a Cane’s spokesperson said. Raising Cane’s is a fast-food chain that specializes in chicken fingers.
J. Crew will replace
Beauty Store Salon & Spa in Sunset Valley, according to a

social media of Beauty Store Salon & Spa. J. Crew offers clothing, shoes and accessories for men, women and kids. J. Crew representatives did not respond to requests for comment as of press time, but according to the permit, the store will be completed in the spring.
Journeys Kidz is an extension of footwear retailer
Journeys, offering shoes, apparel, backpacks, hats and accessories for infants to tweens. According to a
project filed with the
Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and
Barton Creek Square’s website, the store will be located on the upper level of Barton Creek Square next to
American Eagle. Journeys representatives did not respond as of press time. According to the permit, the store will be completed in the spring.
ClosingsEffie Vintage is no longer selling curated vintage goods in a blue ‘60’s-era home off South Congress Avenue due to development in the area, which owner Kristen Garcia said she has known would cause her to leave the location one day. Customers can still find Garcia’s store out at the Austin Antique Mall and through her Instagram, @EffieVintageATX.
Davis Tire and Automotive closed in Southwest Austin after 24 years. The business offered automotive repairs and tires. The location will be replaced by
Brake Check, which will offer oil changes, brake repairs and tire alignments.
Dapper and Dashing, a retail store offering tuxedos and suits for sale or rent, is no longer open in Sunset Valley.
Community Impact was unable to contact the store for more information. The store’s website and phone numbers are down. A sign at the location says that the landlord had changed the locks due to failure to pay rent.

Beauty Store Salon & Spa in Sunset Valley will shut its doors at the end of January due to the end of the business’s lease. The local boutique sold hair products, skin care, cosmetics, gifts, jewelry and apparel. The business also offered a full-service salon. Beauty Store Salon & Spa has an additional location that will remain open in the Central Park Shopping Center at 4001 N. Lamar Blvd., Ste. 590, Austin.
Carter’s will close in Sunset Valley at the end of January. Carter’s sells baby, toddler and children’s clothing. The store has another Southwest Austin location in Southpark Meadows.
