Unchained.Art announces opening of permanent space in downtown

The gallery’s opening will be launched with its inaugural exhibition, “between us.” The exhibition reflects intimacy and dialogue between two artists, Ditte Sørensen and Via Boley.

Through the art attendees will get to see radically different vocabulary and the act of seeing and being seen. The series will highlight how a difference in vocabularies can sharpen perception and invite conversation about how women are perceived and how that perception is disrupted.

Some background

Sørensen is a contemporary artist from Copenhagen, Denmark who experiments with stitched and layered pieces using merge fabric, paper and unexpected materials made to catch the viewer’s attention through emotion and energy.

Austin-based painter Boley combines reflective materials with traditional painting, exploring how surfaces carry emotion beyond their appearance. Objects in her work are typically fractured or displaced to visualize the in-between of visibility and distortion.
