Southside Community Center opens warming center for Hays County

The community center states on its website that its gym holds 40 cots and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Pets are allowed if they are leashed, not aggressive and kept with the owner.

Kyle residents are welcome to use public city buildings, such as the Kyle Public Library, during normal business hours as needed to stay warm, according to the city’s Assistant Director of Communications Rachel Sonnier.

Kyle residents are encouraged to take measures to protect pipes and plants, bring pets indoors, and check on neighbors, according to the city website, which also lists different winter weather tips.

San Marcos’ city website has an outage map and multiple phone numbers residents can call in case of an outage or different emergencies.

Buda’s city website also lists cold weather tips and a phone number to the city’s public works department that residents can contact in case of an emergency “for street-related items such as obstruction of roadways, missing stop signs, or water or wastewater issues related to disruption of city services.”
