After reviewing eight bids to widen Windy Hill Road in the city of Kyle, officials accepted the bid from Smith Contracting Co. Inc. at a cost of $2.48 million.
During its Oct. 20 meeting, City Council accepted the bid from Smith based on a recommendation from LJA Engineering, according to city information.
Smith offered the lowest bid of the eight, with the highest price coming in at $3.74 million from Aaron Concrete Contractors.
Information from the city states the scope of work "includes the construction of a new 47-foot width roadway, structure improvements, grading, base, pavement, curb and gutter, pedestrian improvements, safety light, signing and markings for approximately 0.47 mile of roadway."
